Abstract: This study investigates the impact of adult education on critical thinking skills, exploring how various educational programs contribute to the development of analytical and evaluative skills among adult learners. The objectives were to assess the effectiveness of adult education in enhancing critical thinking, to identify specific teaching methods that foster critical thinking, and to evaluate the challenges faced by adult learners in developing these skills. A survey research design was utilized to gather data from participants enrolled in adult education programs, allowing for comprehensive insights into their experiences and outcomes. A sample size of 300 adult learners was selected to provide a robust analysis. The purposive sampling technique was employed to target individuals actively participating in critical thinking-focused courses. The case study was conducted in Lagos, Nigeria, where diverse adult education initiatives are prevalent. Findings indicated that adult education significantly improved critical thinking skills, with participants showing enhanced analytical abilities and problem-solving capabilities. However, challenges such as limited access to resources and insufficient instructional support were noted. The study recommended increasing investment in critical thinking training and improving instructional methods to better support adult learners.
